Helena Norberg-Hodge
Helena Norberg-Hodge is a renowned scholar and sacred activist. As an undergraduate, she studied Linguistics and went on to doctoral studies at University of London and MIT where she studied with Norm Chomsky. Helena is perhaps best known for her pioneering work studying the impact of industrialization on cultures around the world. She is the author of the groundbreaking book Ancient Futures (1991), a book that provided the world with the first detailed account of the Ladakh region and peoples of the Himalayas. This work, along with its film adaptation, has been published in 40 languages and is heralded as on of the most important books of the 20th century. She has coauthored many other works including: Bringing the Food Economy Home: Local Alternatives to Global Agribusiness (2002) and From the Ground Up: Rethinking Industrial Agriculture (1992).
Helena is a respected and outspoken critic of economic globalization, her pioneering efforts have resulted in numerous high-impact initiatives such as the International Forum of Globalization and the award-winning documentary The Economics of Happiness (2011).
