JEFF FIREWALKER

MY VISION

I now embody the role of chakaruna—a bridge between disparate ways of knowing and being. I created the Eagle Condor Council to provide education, direct experience, and advocacy for the healing arts and cosmologies of native cultures.

My vision is to support the sharing of indigenous wisdom, holding space for people to awaken as sovereign spiritual beings in service to the unfolding of humanity’s next evolutionary phase.

MY JOURNEY

I was a child prodigy who escaped a broken home and entered college at 14. By 16, I had published my first scientific paper, launching a lifelong odyssey in science. My most influential mentor and I uncovered key insights into how a vital signaling molecule in the human body is processed. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with extraordinary scientists and social entrepreneurs, including Stuart Kauffman (co-founder of the Santa Fe Institute) and Roberto Carr (Princeton Quantum Physicist). I have co-led the launch of a research institute and five companies, one of which went public in 2000.

While pursuing my doctorate at Oxford University and the University of Bath, I also immersed myself in music and the arts. I collaborated with renowned musicians, including founding members of King Crimson, and co-founded BioArt*, a Royal Society traveling exhibition aimed at inspiring conservation through the beauty of the living world.

After graduating, my research group pioneered the use of supercomputing to simulate biological systems and develop treatments for neurological diseases. As a university professor, I explored cancer research while leading Wake Forest University School of Medicine’s innovation and commercialization center. My work later expanded into Systems Biology—developing technology to assess and restore balance in the human stress response system—and diagnostics using wearable technology to predict conditions like heart attacks, atrial fibrillation, and migraines.

From a young age, I trained in music, Chinese martial arts, philosophy, Vipassana meditation, and esoteric traditions. I was privileged to study with theologian Beatrice Bruteau and co-edit God’s Ecstasy: The Creation of a Self-Creating Universe. Though I quietly committed to esoteric and mystery school teachings for decades, my early forties marked a turning point when I was introduced to the Vegitalista and Curanderismo traditions of South America. Here, I learned about the chakaruna—the bridge person—an essential role in native prophecy. Since then, my life has been dedicated to these traditions.

I am also a storyteller, weaving my narratives through words and music. Over the past 40 years, I have taught and spoken at more than 200 events, including a keynote at the Global Philosophy Forum, numerous podcasts, and a TEDx talk. My musical storytelling journey led me to study with composer Kenneth Frisselle and collaborate with artists like John Medeski, Warren Haynes, Oteil Burbridge, Vernon Reid, and Natalia Clavier.
